Hereford manager Paul Caddis is not having much luck. His squad of 16 players has been hit by injuries and suspensions and he admitted in his post match interview at Redditch this afternoon that he will have to bring in a few more players or he won't be able to fill the bench at Kings Lynn next Saturday.
First he spoke about the friendly which Hereford won 2-0.
"I thought we were good," said Caddis.
"I thought we were good for the win. I thought we could probably have scored more in the second half.
"The most pleasing thing for me was that we've got players who has come off the pitch who are fit. They are not injuried. We've obviously got a few missing.
"Yes, I'm really pleased with the result, pleased with the performance. The best way to sum it up is that was a professional performance."
Caddis had to play some players out of position.
"This is probably the most nervous I've been since I've come in. We're down to the bare bones, I just wanted people to get through the game and I'm thankful they did.
"Mendes has played upfront, he's played number ten, he's played center-mid and right back and he does them all comfortably."
Caddis then spoke about the injuries and suspensions ahead of next Saturday's game at Kings Lynn.
"Kyle (Howkins) is touch and go, probably going to miss out.
"Aaron Skinner will miss out, he is suspended from a mistaken identity from last year. Because it was a second yellow I can't appeal. I've seen the footage, Skinner was 40 yards away. But he had the same coloured hair as the lad. We can't do anything about it.
"Lassana Mendes is out for three games. We received an e-mail two days. Thanks to the FA for giving us loads of notice. He got a straight red card in a Welsh cup final at the end of last season.
"We've got six of the starting eleven missing for the start of the season but such is life, just got to get on with it."
(Strikers Williams and Cowley are also out, both for up to twelve weeks).
There were a number of trialists at Redditch this afternoon. Could Caddis bring any of them in?
"I hope so. We're working within our means with what we've got available. We've got to do a bit of wheeling and dealing.
"There's a few that we like. Whether we can get them to the club is a different story.
"We'll go home, Rooney and me, we'll spend the evening on the phone to each other and tomorrow and Monday and Tuesday and Wednesday and Thursday.
"We'll do everything we possibly can to have another, we need another four bodies in by next week.
"All the trialists here today are unattached.
"One of them has just come out of Cheltenham, Connor Stanley has been here for a few weeks. We like Connor, it's whether we can try and get something sorted there.
"We had another young lad and Jaiden White (ex-Kidderminster).
"All done well, all sharp, all had their moments in the game but it's something again that we've got to try and work within our means and see what we desparately need and what we don't."
It's Kings Lynn next Saturday.
"We're missing six of the starting eleven but I'm still very confident that we can go to Kings Lynn and pose ourselves on the game and not just go there to turn up.
"We're going there with a positive mindset.
"We're trying to get accomodation sorted for the night."
