Hereford FC chairman Chris Ammonds has said the club will give some more thought to pre-season friendly prices, but Edgar Street isn't a cheap ground to operate.Jordan Cranston taking a throw-in next to manager Paul Caddis last Saturday
For last Saturday's game against West Brom under-21s, adults were charged £14 for a seated ticket and £12 on the terraces.
But 1,038 was announced as the official attendance, suggesting that perhaps the price had not put too many people off when you consider there were 843 at Hereford Pegasus the week before.
But the club were still criticised online over the admission costs, which general manager Jamie Griffiths and chairman Chris Ammonds both defended in their latest video chat on the club's official YouTube channel.
Griffiths said the club still had the same costs whether it was a competitive or friendly game.
Ammonds said: "It's a really difficult thing. We'll reflect on where we pitch the prices at.
"It wasn't done in any way to try and sting people or anything like that.
"Edgar Street is a big ground with a big infrastructure and actually it's not really any cheaper to host a pre-season game as what it is one of our league games," Ammonds said in the video.
It's made more complicated when the club doesn't know how many away fans might come.
But regardless of how many fans turn up, Ammonds said 35 stewards are still needed, and a decision was made to house visiting supporters in D block to save a small amount of money.
But medical provision is still needed, with an ambulance needed adding to the bills.
Both club doctors are voluntary, Griffiths said, but Hereford's costs are higher than other clubs in the National League North.
He said the club never set prices to "rinse people for every penny they have".
Ammonds warned that setting prices too low risks running pre-season friendlies at a loss, but while there were only a small number of negative comments online, they would still reflect and "in the future, give it some more thought".
