Swindon have sacked manager Jody Morris after just 18 games in charge.
When he took over the club was sixth in the table, now they are tenth.
Paul Caddis, Hereford's new manager, played for Swindon and there were reports that he might have been in the frame for the job when the vacancy arose last January.
However the concensus at the time seemed to be that he needed more experience before moving into management.
One supporter was quoted by the Swindon Advertiser:
"As much as I love Caddis, we need a good manager first and foremost over someone who was a good player, loved the club and the club loves him.
"I would much rather wait a few years where we could be confident he could come in and do a good job with more experience and knowledge."
However another had a different view:
"Caddis' mentality as a player, his time as captain, time playing under
Di Canio-style tactics. There is a lot that makes me happy about this,
even if it is a risk."
