Gloucester manager Steve King may quit Gloucester.
Chairman Patrick Chambers has said that he has had discussions with King but no decision has been made as to whether the manager will stay in the post.
“He is under contract for next season, he and I have had some really positive conversations, but out of respect for the fantastic job Steve has done, the landscape has changed," said Chambers as reported by GloucestershireLive.
“He joined a club under Alex’s (Petheram) targets and strategies and that’s now changed. He knows about the losses that the club have been making and that those are being plugged by the owners.
“I’ve been honest with Steve and said to him ‘you are still under contract for next season, and I would like to have that season with you.’
"Steve has been totally honest with me and with him living in Eastbourne, the part-time model doesn’t quite suit his ambition or current circumstances.
“So, while I’ve always held out hope that he’ll give it a go, I’ve got to respect the fact that so far, in our discussions, that’s not quite the direction he wants to go, but he’s not yet formally said to me he’ll be leaving.”
Gloucester will be playing in the National North next season after going out of the play-offs, against Brackley, on penalties.
