Former Hereford United defender Darren Blewitt has been appointed first team coach at East Thurrock United.
Last week Thurrock sacked their manager and coach. Steve Butterworth is their new manager.
The club is owned by millionaire Alfie Best.
Blewitt came to Hereford on loan from West Ham in August 2005. Later that season he spent time at Grays Athletic who were also in the Conference at the time.
After leaving Hereford he gave an interview to the 'Ironworks Gazette'. In it Blewitt was full of praise for Hereford and their supporters.
"When I first went
there my first question was - Hereford where is it? Is it in England?
Well Hereford is in England but only just isn't it? It's on the border
but they are great people, I was a bit unsure at first but I found the
locals really easy to get along with. The players were a bit of a
mixture to be truthful, a few local boys; a couple of northerners and a
few London lads so there were a lot of different accents going around
obviously. But my accent was the best and in the end they all tried to
copy me, but as for the locals well I can tell you there were a few
interesting people down there that's for sure - but overall some great
people"
Darren could be facing the Hereford away fans who he came to love in his short time at Edgar Street:
"I
cant see why not, I mean they're fans are brilliant, the fans who go to
away games are nutcases, they are great fans especially away from home
you know? They go everywhere and they are a fantastic laugh and I loved
playing for them, I took to them and I would like to think that they
took to me. I mean when they play in the London area and if I am not
playing anywhere myself I want to go and watch them but I don't want to
sit in the stands - I want to stand behind the goal with them and join
in. Hopefully the fans will remember me and let me join in with them,
sing a few songs with them and cheer on the Bulls."
