The FSA have highlighted that HUST have reached their target of owning 50% of Hereford FC.
'Hereford FC are the latest club to become community-owned after supporters secured 50% ownership of the National League North side.
As part of season-long fundraising efforts ahead of the Hereford United Supporters’ Trust AGM back in November, fans raised £9,000 which enabled the trust to buy the remaining shares needed to secure 50.1% of the Herefordshire club.
Hereford United Supporters’ Trust chairman Richard Tomkins said: “This is an emotional moment.
“Some people believed that supporters didn’t have the drive to amass the £289,000 required to match the club’s foundation investment. How wrong can they be!”
Originally founded in 1924, Hereford United was wound-up in the High Court with debts around £1.3million back in 2014.
A new phoenix club was set up by Hereford supporters and local benefactors with the new club retaining the iconic Hereford Bull – and they gained promotion to the National League North in 2018.
The funds were moved across before Christmas and the cheque was presented at the weekend’s game against Scarborough Athletic.'
