Miles Storey scored Hereford's goal in their 3-1 defeat to Portsmouth in the FA Cup this evening.
Storey, wearing number eleven, scored after running well over half the length of the pitch in the first half.
Afterwards he was chosen as man of the match.
"Brilliant cup-tie to play in," said Storey.
"Even before the game the atmosphere was kicking off.
"You walked past the fans zone and it was loud.
"Hopefully we can use it now to kick start a good run in the league.
"At 1-0 everyone was sort of dreaming but it was a tough game, they are a sharp side.
"The second half tired us out really with them keeping the ball.
"We're a little bit disappointed with two set pieces considering we're such a big squad, it's something we need to iron out ready for Kettering."
Storey nut-megged the goal keeper to score.
"I had a lot of time to think about it, do I dink him, go around him or put it in the corner and I megged him.
"I was looking for a goal again, I got one a few weeks back but I need to add more goals to my game.
"Big relief and a little knee slide.
"The goal came from them having a loose touch which was our game plan really, sit in and wait for a trigger. And when we got the ball try and get behind the two centre halves.
"We did it a few times but it's difficult when you are running round like that."
Storey was wearing the number eleven shirt as Ronnie Radford did 50 years ago.
"I think it was last year we did a tribute goal so everyone knows how important that man was for the club.
"I did have a little think that I was number eleven beforehand so I thought it would be nice.
"The applause we got before the game was brilliant and put us in good stead for the game.
"Even during the warm up there were loads (of applause) you couldn't hear the ball moving around. It does give you a bit of buzz.
"I think a few of the lads were a little bit nervous but as soon as the game kicked off we stood up.
"The more experienced lads tried to get us going."
