Welcome Holmes

Jack Holmes

Jack Holmes played his first game for Hereford this afternoon after joining earlier in the week.

He scored one of Hereford's goal, assisted with another, and was selected as man of the match.

Afterwards he spoke to the local media.

"I'm happy with that," said Holmes.

"A goal, an assist and man of the match in front of the home fans which is nice so I'm buzzing.

"I'm glad I've come in and shown what I can do because there's been a lot of talk about me so it's nice to back it.

"I'll go into the next game and show what I can do again.

"I told the gaffer I would play anywhere as long as I'm playing but my preferred position is number ten, trying to pick up pockets and slotting people in behind. I enjoyed it today.

"I've come here (from Halesowen), played my normal game and it's worked out alright.

"I've only been in two days but they've made me feel really welcome and part of the group straight away. I think it showed on the pitch that I felt part of the group which is nice as well."

It's Leamington on Tuesday.

"I've heard about Leamington being quite direct and a bit of a different team from the one we played today but I quite like the pressure behind me as I think it makes me thing quicker and play quicker. It's a challenge that I'll have a good go at."

Holmes was asked if he could play in the FA Cup next Saturday.

"I'm not available so I'll have to watch that one in the stands."

How did his move to Hereford come about?

"I had a good start to the season with Halesowen and got the call to say they (Hereford) had put in seven days. It was quite a quick process from there just straight in.

"I came to watch The FA Cup last Saturday and in for training on Tuesday. Quite an easy process really.

"My main goal is football, I work everything else around football.

"I'm happy to be in in the day rather than at night so it's a bit of a nice change.

"I had a go at Kiddy on trial pre-season but I don't think they were looking for a player like me at the time. They had quite a big squad so I had to go back to Halesowen and show what I could do."

"I looking to impress ever game but Kiddy would be a nice one to have a good game if I can."
