The Hereford FC board are considering a floodlight upgrade at Edgar Street.
For sometime not every bulb has been working and there are several dark areas across the pitch particularily in the corners.
And with the cost of electric continuing to increase, the existing lights are expensive to run.
Lights should be cleaned at least once a season but getting someone to do that without the cost of hiring a cherry-picker isn't easy.
Recently a number of clubs have thought about kicking-off games at an earlier time to save electric but if gates drop because of the earlier start then there might be more money lost than gained.
Last week the Hereford Community Under 18's played at Wellington where they have LED lights. The difference was noticable.
Last Saturday Hereford chairman Jon Hale told BN that the board had discussed the cost of running the lights at Edgar Street.
They have decided to take advice from a well-known local electrical contractor.
The aim is to have better idea of the cost and the potential savings as soon as possible.
Should the club go ahead may be a fund-raising campaign would be appropriate.
Meanwhile Hale has ruled out starting games earlier. He felt that would prove difficult for both players and spectators.
