Luke Haines's Shot Rises As It Goes Towards The Back Of The Chester Net |
Luke Haines's goal won the game at Chester last night. Given he scored an own goal at Scarborough last Saturday, this goal couldn't have come at a better time. Afterwards the Hereford defender spoke to the media.
"I think I owed it to the boys to be honest," said Haines.
"After putting one in the other net the other day but I would like to think that's gone now.
"I patched over it tonight."
Haines was given a yellow card within a minute of the start for a need-less trip on a Chester player.
"I had to be steady for the rest of the game.
"I took an early booking which I think made me concentrate more to be honest, switched me on more because I knew I couldn't risk anything really."
Haines is being used as a central defender this season.
"I'm still getting used to it with Zac next to me.
"I've played there before but when you go back into the midfield for a year and then come back in again you do feel slightly disorientated sometimes.
"I'm still getting used to it and it will come and a clean sheet tonight, confidence booster.
"I like to try and play as much as I can on the ball, to be honest I don't think I've been too great on the ball last two games but I think that's just finding my legs again after a bit of a break but it will come."
