Ben Pollock Marked Lenell John-Lewis
Speaking after today's 1-1 draw at Edgar Street York FC manager John Askey said that he should have subbed former Hereford striker Lenell John-Lewis in the second half.
Hereford's Ben Pollock had the measure of John-Lewis for most of the game.
"I think you saw he hadn't had loads of games and he tired towards the end," Askey said.
"It was probably a mistake by me not bringing Clayton (Donaldson) on for the last 20 minutes."
On the game itself Askey felt York did not play as well as they have recently. He also felt Hereford's goal could have been avoided.
“They huffed and puffed but they didn’t really create a great deal.
“Same for ourselves really. We didn’t create much.
“The goal we scored was a good goal and it’s good to see Woods back and doing what he does well.
“It was an away performance where we got a point but obviously we’re disappointed with the way we played.
“It was a battling performance. We weren’t as good today as we have been.
“But if you’re not going to win, try and make sure you get something out of the game, and they did.
“First half was difficult because the wind was so strong. Second half, we thought we’d be able to capitalise on the wind but it dropped a little bit.
“They’ve only got one up front so we’ve got to play out from the back, and we didn’t.
“That’s why we didn’t play as well.”
