Weak Mentality Said Gowling

Josh Gowling

A difficult night for Josh Gowling at Curzon Ashton seeing his team lose 3-0. However he faced the media afterwards and tried to explain why the defeat had happened.

"Weak, weak mentality, simple as that," said the Hereford manager.

"We huffed and puffed at times. Too many players not where they need to be and it cost us today."

Do you not feel Curzon did their homework on you?

"No, not at all, not at all.

"Their goals didn't come from any homework whatsoever.

"Their third goal has come from us giving the ball away in a bad area.

"Their first goal has come from us not sliding across quick enough.

"And their second goal has come from us not dealing with a throw in properly and the guy skips past three people.

"It's got nothing to do with homework whatsoever.

"We had possession, we knew what they were going to do, they sat behind the ball well and we didn't execute well enough.

"They are hard to break down by the way they play but we spoke about getting the balls into wide areas and first half we rolled inside too much when there was space out wide.

"We didn't let shots off, we had enough opportunities on the edge of the box to get shots off, we didn't do it.

"We showed a frailty today which I didn't like.

"It's mentality, as simple as that. That's something I've got to look at in the squad because you can't go on the run you go on and then have a slip and then go on a run and have a slip.

"Yes you would probably take losing one and then winning five on the bounce.

"But to be honest that today, I'm not having that, no chance.

"How a player can get the ball and just go past three people, it's got to mean more, simple as that.

"I don't like losing big games, so I'm upset.

"I'm not going to throw the lads under a bus because they've been brilliant but today we weren't good enough."
