Gowling Remains Hopeful Hall And Grimes Will Sign

Hereford FC manager Josh Gowling remains hopeful that both Brandon Hall and Jamie Grimes will sign new deals.

He also thinks several other players from last season will remain at Edgar Street.

"We would like to think over the next week or so we'll get them done.

"We've been speaking to the lads all the way through about what we want to do next season and it's been made pretty clear who we want to keep next year.

"It's making sure they are comfortable with their deals.

"I want to keep the bulk of the squad together, I think it's important that we do that.

"Obviously we are in conversation with Grimes, in conversation with Brandon.

"I would like to think we will know in the next few days about Brandon and Grimes.

"The ball is in their court, they've been made offers.

"If they want to stay they will be here. If not we'll look to bring, we've got targets, in replacements."

Looking forward to next season Gowling wants 'progression'.

"We want progression, we want to win as many games as possible and I think if we can have a progression on from last year it will be a good season.

"We might hear in the next couple of days about three new players.

"I met one today, meeting one tomorrow and I'm in constant talks with another one so in the next couple of weeks I expect those three to be done, fingers crossed.

"They are exciting players and I think the fans will be pleased with those signings if we can get them done."

Luke Haines was the first player to sign for the forthcoming season.

"I think it was done before the quarter-finals.

"Luke is a football league player for me. He's 20 and he's wise beyond his years. He's good on the ball, he talks, he's a leader, wants to win.

"Getting a full season under his belt, the progression he'll make will be phenomenal."

Gowling also said that pre-season will start in early July.

"We'll make sure we have a bit more of a steady pre-season because last year was a bit fragmented with Covid and not having a squad built properly. It was difficult.

"If we can have a good core of a squad, 12, 14, 15 players signed will give us a better pre-season."
