Former Newcastle player is backing Hornchurch to beat Hereford

Former Newcastle and England player Rob Lee is backing his hometown club Hornchurch to beat Hereford in the FA Trophy Final.

Lee is good friends with Urchins boss Mark Stimson and played for the Essex club as a youngster. Hornchurch have already beaten five higher-graded sides to reach Wembley, including Notts County in the semi final, and Lee believes they can also upset Hereford.

"I thought Notts County would be a bridge too far," said Lee, speaking to The Non-League Paper.

"If someone gets it right there they are a huge club. When I was playing there they were in the Championship.

"So you think it's going to be a tough ask for little old Hornchurch. But it goes to show it's not all about the stature of the football club. It's 11v11 and whoever has the most fight and will to win. You have to have a bit of ability and Hornchurch will have that as well."
