John-Lewis Signs For Grimsby

Hereford striker Lenell John-Lewis has signed an 18 month deal with Grimsby FC.

It's understood that Grimsby made an initial offer for the striker which was rejected but a second offer has been accepted. The fee is currently 'undisclosed'.

John-Lewis is returning to the club where he played from January 2013 to May 2015.

"It's really good it's also nice to see so many familiar faces, it's just like home and like I have never been away," said John-Lewis in an interview with Grimsby.

"Not at all [did it take long to decide to join]. I played under the gaffer a couple of times already now and when I know there's interest there from him, it's a no brainer for me he always seems to get the best out of me. I think I have said it before, I trust him and I think for him to want to sign me, it's always a massive confidence boost for me and he must trust me so that goes a long way.

"I have just had my head down and tried to work. I have always had a goal and I knew scoring goals and doing my job would get me to the end of that job so it went really well. I'm strong, good in the air, physical, I like to give the defenders a problem and I can score goals as always...I look forward to getting my running shoes on, getting some fitness under my belt, I am sure Doigy has got some running drills for me that he's been saving so I look forward to it!"

Manager Paul Hurst has also spoken about John-Lewis.

"I know he's been desperate for this move to happen, it didn't look like it was going to happen at one stage but thankfully it has. I am looking forward to reuniting with him for the third time and everyone can be reassured that he will be putting on that shirt and giving everything".

Only last Friday Hereford said John-Lewis was not for sale.

'We can also confirm that we have received an approach for striker Lenell John-Lewis.

We have rejected the approach and can confirm that Lenell remains a Hereford FC player and is not for sale.'
