Goals from Michael Bakare, on his debut, and Chris Camwell saw the Bulls beat Brackley 2-0 to go nine games unbeaten in all competitions, with yet another clean sheet.
Bakare went straight into Hereford's starting line-up, while fellow new recruit Ryan McLean, who is on loan from Newcastle Town, was on the bench. Kennedy Digie, who has impressed in recent games, was also a subsititute while there was again no place for loanee Callum Rowe. Meanwhile, former Hereford player Jordan Cullinane-Liburd was on the bench for Brackley.
The away side made a lively start and saw a Gareth Dean shot flash over the bar in the second minute. Then seven minutes later, they had the ball in the net through Matt Lowe only for the offside flag to have already been raised.
At the other end, Hereford went close when Kyle Finn's shot from 20 yards out sailed just over onto the roof of the net.
The game then died down with neither side able to create many openings and they went into the break goalless.
However, Hereford did open the scoring four minutes into the second half. Tom Owen-Evans did well to keep a corner in and pulled the ball back for Bakare to fire home from close range. Meanwhile, Grimes was solid as a rock at the back for the Bulls and he made a block to thwart James Armson.
Finn then had a shot saved before Hereford doubled their lead in the 64th minute. Camwell - who has scored some corkers this season - was again on hand to fire home from a full 30 yards out.
And he almost scored again just five minutes later. However, his free kick narrowly went wide with Brackley goalkeeper Danny Lewis beaten.
Grimes again made a decisive block at the other end to deny Lowe while Brandon Hall palmed away an Ethan Coleman shot.
Brackley were unable to create many more opportunities and Hereford held on for a 2-0 win. The victory sends the Bulls up to 12th place in the table, just three points off the play off places. However, as we know, the likelihood is that the league campaign will soon be declared null and void. Nevertheless, it is nice to see Hereford performing well and Josh Gowling and Steve Burr have put together a solid, workman-like side who have also got goals in the them. Their next game is likely to be the FA Trophy encounter at Aldershot a week on Saturday, and on this showing, they could give their higher-graded opponents a good game.
