AFC Fylde manager Nic Chadwick felt his side had let Hereford back into the game after taking an early lead.
Veteran David Perkins scored for Fylde with an unstopable shot which took a slight deflection before two goals from Lenell John-Lewis sealed Hereford's victory.
"Brilliant start, we got the goal then had two or three opportunities to score but then we let them back into the game. We went too deep," said Chadwick.
"We've been done by the basics of the game and that doesn't make me very happy. If we're at this level we have to do the basics right.
"Hereford worked tremendously hard for their manager.
"I don't think we've been carved open but I think we have to stop crosses better, show more desire to block shots at our goal.
"I thought we lost because of Hereford's desire to get a goal out of the game, to get something out of the game and we have to match that."
