Hereford to face Nantwich next after cruising past St Neots

Hereford comfortably beat St Neots 3-0 tonight to progress to the Third Round of the FA Trophy where they will face Nantwich.

Goals from Jamie Grimes and Kyle Finn saw Hereford open up a two-goal advantage at the break, with Lenell John-Lewis sealing the win in the second half.

Nantwich, meanwhile, thrashed Witton 5-2 in their second round clash.

It was St Neots who came flying out of the traps and almost took the lead after just 15 seconds when Ryan Robbins' effort hit the post.

They had another opportunity three minutes later when Brandon Hall had to tip Leon Loibjot's shot over the bar, while at the other end, James McQuilkin headed wide.

Hereford started to enjoy plenty of possession with Dan Jones constantly getting on the ball. And it was his assist that set up Grimes for a powerful header in the 18th minute that put the Bulls 1-0 up.

Josh Gowling's side doubled their advantage seven minutes later when the lively Finn's powerful shot took a deflection before going in.

St Neots still had opportunities to score, but you always felt that Hereford would likewise and John-Lewis fired over in the 38th minute.

Shortly before half time, St Neots were awarded a free kick just outside the area, but the set piece went well over.

In the 58th minute, Tom Owen-Evans's header hit the post before Hereford did make it 2-0 eight minutes later when John-Lewis' shot took a deflection off St Neots player-manager Barry Corr. Hereford had further chances to score further goals, but in the end had to settle for just the three as they advance to the last 32 of the competition.
