A Morpeth player who was in their team against Southport last Saturday has tested positive for Covid-19.
Southport have consulted with their medical officer. He has confirmed that Southport can continue and that no further action is required.
'The Pure Stadium is a covid secure environment and players are screened prior to gaining access which includes temperature checks, hand sanitising stations and the wearing of face masks and coverings indoors. Both teams change in separate locations and only come into contact with each other, in the open air, on the field of play.'
Southport play Hereford in a National League fixture tomorrow evening.
According to Morpeth the player contacted the club this morning and told them about the 'positive outcome'.
Consequently Morpeth has taken the decision to halt all footballing activities for the next 14 days and everyone on the team bus travelling to and from Southport must now self-isolate.
