Jared Hodgkiss, who is to captain Hereford FC this coming season, was interviewed by Matt Healey of YourHerefordshire yesterday afternoon at Edgar Street.
"It's nice to be back looking at a bit of green on there," said Hodgkiss.
"The pitch is looking well."
You had three managers last season.
"It was very inconsistant both off the pitch and on the pitch. I'll put it to the back of my mind and just go again this season.
"Josh (as manager) is great. Obviously because he's just come out of playing himself, he understands the players and what the players need.
"I think it will be a good opportunity for Josh and it will be nice to play for a manager who will want to play football and play it from the back. That will suit a lot of the lads who are here.
"Consistancy is the main thing in this league. We need to get off to a good start which I'm sure the gaffer will let all the players know that a good start is the main thing and just go from there."
Training is going to be changed to the mornings. Do you think that is a positive move?
"I think so, yes. For me it was difficult last season coming to part time and having to train in the evening. You've got all day either at work or sitting around waiting for training. You are mentally tired because you've had all day and then you have to try and refocus whereas this season you will get up, you'll go to training, you'll be bright, alert and ready to learn."
Meanwhile Hodgkiss has told the Hereford Times that Gowling being made manager had made him sign another deal with Hereford.
"The big thing for me was Josh getting the job. I want to play for him and I think he'll be a great manager.
"He plays football the right way. The main thing for me was if Josh got the job then I wanted to stay."
Hodgkiss is the second signing announced by Hereford FC this weekend, Lenell John-Lewis was the first. Further news on signings is expected early next week.
