Will Football Restart At Edgar Street In Time For FA Cup?

Mike Symons Celebrates In Front Of The Meadow End After Scoring In The FA Cup
Last season Hereford FC entered the FA Cup at the second qualifying round stage. They played Truro at Edgar Street and beat them 5-2. The date of the tie was September 21st.

It nearly didn't happen for Hereford as Truro were 2-0 ahead with only 16 minutes on the clock but goals from Reece Styche, Jordan Nicholson, Rowan Liburd, Mike Symons and Peter Vincenti ensured the home side went through.

The win was worth £6750 to the Bulls.

At present there has been no news about when the FA Cup rounds will start this coming season. Last year the competition which involved 739 clubs started in early August. It looks highly unlikely the competition will start on the same date this season because of the problems caused by Covid-19.

There was recent speculation that the competition might not get under way until the first round proper which last season took place on November 9th. Should that be the case then clubs like Hereford FC may miss out altogether.

Whether any compensation scheme for clubs unable to take part will be announced by the FA remains to be seen.

But, to clubs like Hereford FC, the FA Cup is a competition to look forward to both on the pitch and for the finance it can bring in.  To miss out would be a massive blow.
