In the second part of my four episode interview series with the former Hereford United Chairman, we discuss the finances in running a Football club. When Hereford United were in League Two for the 2011/2012 season all clubs in the division received £725,000 per season in funding.
The subsequent relegation to the National League meant this dropped to £215,000 in the 2012/2013 season (with a parachute payment that the two relegated Football League clubs, Hereford and Macclesfield both received). Back then the parachute payment was only valid for one season, and by the time the 2013/2014 season arrived, the club only received the standard funding of £47,000 per season.
With attendances starting to drop, this had a significant effect on the financial landscape at Edgar Street. I also asked Keyte if he had ever considered asking Graham Turner for advice. Find out what he said in the second instalment of the weekly series, which can be found on the below link.
