Hereford interim manager Josh Gowling has called for clarity from the powers that be regarding cancelling the 2019/2020 season, adding that it's a scary time for many clubs. It is understood that clubs want the National League to call off the season due to issues around players' contracts and want assistance from The FA.
If the season is null and voided, the chances are that there will be no promotions or relegations. In National League North, York are two points ahead of King's Lynn at the top having played two games more, while at the bottom, Blyth Spartans and Bradford (PA) are nine and 12 points off safety respectively.
Meanwhile, in the National League, Barrow are four points clear at the top in the race to gain promotion to the Football League, while in the FA Trophy, Step 4 side Halesowen Town are in the semi-finals and one round away from Wembley.
Another option would be to use a points-per-game system to determine the final league places, but that will not please everyone.
Scary and frustrating time for everyone in the national league. What we need now is clarity from the powers that be and clubs need desperate help financially to pay all staff, playing and non playing.#savelowerleaguefootball https://t.co/3Oll0iaHcd— Joshua Gowling (@joshgowling) March 25, 2020
