Tom Owen-Evans, back at Edgar Street after interim manager Josh Gowling cut short his loan at Chippenham, scored Hereford's equaliser with a penalty in the game against Curzon Ashton this afternoon.
Afterwards he spoke to the local media.
"Obviously I'm buzzing to be back here first and foremost," said Owen-Evans.
"With the situation today going down to ten men I'm buzzing to get a result out of the game which we deserved."
Late in the game Hereford were awarded a penalty which Owen-Evans converted.
"I wanted it. I know I've missed a couple this year but last year I scored seven out of seven. I had the confidence and I believe in myself to score it.
"Gowling said to me before the game do you want penalties and I said 100%, I want that responsibilty.
"It's nice to feel wanted and he (Gowling) rang me Monday night and said I want to talk to you about recalling you so you know about it before it all happens.
"Would you want to come back and play for me and I said 100%.
"I think he's got the attributes to be a good coach and I think you could see today that the boys put everything in and I think we controlled the majority of the game and even with ten men we had control of the game
"They didn't really threaten us and I think you could see everyone working hard and putting a shift in and hopefully this will spur us on starting from now."
Asked if he noticed any changes on coming back, most positivity?
"Definitely, that's a good word to describe it.
"It's a lot more positive, everyone is feeling a bit more refreshed, everyone is buzzing and looking forward.
"Gowl said to see go out there and play with freedom, press the life out of them which we did until we had the sending off. Go and give the fans something to cheer about and hopefully the fans saw that everyone put a shift in and working hard. We want to repay the faith they have given us.
"We've got a good footballing team and players who are capable and good enough to do it. He said I want you to pass the ball and be creative and play with freedom and I think you could see that.
"There's a change in philosophy, we are trying to play the ball rather than hit it long."
Last season Owen-Evans was player of the year.
"I want to be playing consistantly in a position where I can get forward and show the ability I've got to get in the box, score goals, create goals.
"If I'm playing consistantly in a position that I can affect more then hopefully that ability can come through and I can show everybody what I'm capable of doing.
"I like to play (behind the front man) that's where I feel comfortable playing. I can play other positions and I think I can do a job in other positions but I think I have more of an effect on a game if I play higher up."
What will the changes bring?
"I think it's turning point. We said we want to start the season today and I think with our performance we would have been gutted if we had lost the game today."
What did he think about the replacement referee and the sending off of Ben Pollock?
"I get onto refs quite a lot, I probably should keep my mouth shut but it's only because I care.
"I didn't really see Ben, he's jumped in it, probably be a red but the more frustrating thing for me was when Alex Bray gone through on goal. I think, even they knew, it was a red card and if it had been the ref before he may have given it.
"May be it evened itself out because I wasn't really sure it was a penalty on Rowan in the end."
