Gateshead captain Scott Barrow was taken off on a stretcher last night at Edgar Street. He appeared to have hurt his leg in a 50/50 tackle.
“It didn’t look great the way he landed, it looked like his leg went from underneath him but you can’t really tell yet.
“Chris [Bell] is a brilliant physio and he’s just advised us to wait for the scan and not jump to any conclusions.
“That was obviously a kick in the teeth during the game as well to lose our captain on the pitch, especially someone who’s as good of a player as Scotty.
“It’s just a blow the way he got injured, hopefully he’ll be in good health soon and we’ll see where we are once the scan results come back.”
As for the game itself Watson said that everyone was devastated.
“To lose like that when you were 1-0 up and very late on in the way we did, it's really disappointing, it's probably the worst way to lose.
“It's a sickening feeling but we'll dust ourselves off and go again. I thought the performance was really good, especially in the first half.
“I thought we dominated the whole game and possibly could have had a few more goals but it didn't happen and then they've went and scored two – but that's football to be fair."
