Stevens unavailable for Hereford game

Gary Stevens

Wellington manager Gary Stevens will not be at his side's pre-season friendly against Hereford this Saturday.

The former Hereford United player will instead be on a family holiday, meaning that Jon Pugh and Will Perkins will be in charge of the Hellenic League side.

The two teams played each other two years ago, with Wellington claiming a 1-1 draw.

"Two years ago when we played them they were quick, smooth and technically better; You could see why their players were playing in a higher league," said Stevens, as reported by the Hereford Times.
"We competed very well with them and got the draw.
"We got a little bit fortunate but had two occasions when we could have scored before equalising. They underestimated us last time but I don't think they will this Saturday but it will be interesting to see.
"It's going to be a nice occasion and we would like as many people as possible to turn up and have some fun.
"We will be competitive, will be organised and hopefully give them a good game."
A reminder that the match kicks off at 3pm. Wellington's ground is situated in the village off the A49, at the back of the school. The postcode is HR4 8AZ.
A licensed bar and refreshments will be available, with plenty of parking onsite.
