Looking back at the career of Ryan Green, whose testimonial is set to be held on July 24th, it's his second season.

Green missed part of pre-season and several league games with a hip injury.

"Ryan is struggling. This game may have come a little too soon for him although we want a player with Ryan's ability and experience back in the side as quickly as possible. He is a quality player and the sooner he gets fit the better," said coach John Trewick.

He was fit enough to play by August 28th but on that day Hereford lost 1-0 to Woking. It was the club's first Conference League defeat since the previous February.

Back to winning ways two days later, a 4-1 victory at Northwich and a goal for Green.

'Williams found Brown who got one on one with Ralph in the Vics goal, drew him out of his goal and squared the ball for Green who found the bottom corner with a powerful drive from the edge of the box.'

Another injury problem, reported as abdominal, kept Green out and he had an appointment with a consultant.

"Ryan saw a specialist in Manchester recently and was advised to start training again and he has come through okay," said manager Graham Turner.

Green returned to training in early October and was back in the starting eleven for the 2-1 defeat at Accrington the following Monday.

'Ryan Green started off a good move that resulted in the equaliser for United. His long ball from the defence was knocked down by Lee Mills and Williams played a good pass into Brown who found space to shoot across goal and into the bottom corner after twenty eight minutes.'

However continuing injury problems saw Green struggling to keep his place in the starting eleven. In fact it was December 18th before he was fit enough for a place on the bench following a hamstring injury. That was only his eighth appearance so far that season.

Hereford defeated Gravesend 1-0 and Green 'impressed after a spell out with injury' after coming on during the second half.

Green's injury problems continued. He was subbed off in a 1-0 defeat by Dagenham on January 22nd. And he didn't start a game until a Conference Cup fixture on February 22nd. After that he was on the bench for several games until an injury to Simon Travis allowed Turner to start Green for a Trophy Tie against Hucknall.

As March approached Hereford were way behind with their fixtures and continued to drop vital points in challenge for the play-offs.

And at Morecambe on March 22nd Green was forced off with another injury. However he was fit enough to start against Northwich six days later. And Hereford went on a winning run.

Green appeared to be back to his best as Hereford defeated York 2-0 on April 9th.

'Green paced down the right at the start of the second half and picked out Stansfield on the edge of the box, who laid off for Stanley but his effort failed to trouble Porter.'

Hereford faced Stevenage in the play-offs. The first leg at Broadhall Way was a 1-1 draw.

'Hereford came out a different side for the second half and almost immediately went in front. Ryan Green bombed down the right and delivered a cross which Stansfield and 'keeper Alan Julian battled for. It fell to the onrushing Purdie at the far post and he smashed a shot over the bar from close range, when he really should have hit the target.'

Hereford lost the second leg 1-0.

"We have to be looking to win the league and not get to the play-offs, it's the easier way," said Green.

"The first part of the season we weren't good enough but we improved the last couple of months into a really good team.

"If we can keep it going through next season then I think we can win the league."

On May 25th it was revealed that Green had signed a new one year deal with Hereford.
