Tom Owen-Evans spoke to the media after this afternoon final game of the season in which Hereford were defeated by Boston
"We wanted to go out on a win and keep the momentum going into next year," said Owen-Evans.
"First half we were definitely the better team and we shouldn't have been 1-0 down. We created chances and we could have been two or three nil up by half-time.
"Where we didn't get that first goal, it didn't give us the platform to build on and it was a typical end of season game. We didn't want to make it into that but unfortunately both teams knew they were safe and it had a flat feeling about it.
"We created chances, I had one blocked off the line. I think Rowan had a couple blocked off the line and he had a couple of good chances. Waite also had a good chance,
"You look what they had - a tap-in from a corner and a penalty. I don't think they had a shot apart from that so it's frustrating to lose the game 2-0 when, I think, we were by far the better team."
Was it a penalty?
"I thought it was soft. I go on at refs all the time. I thought it was a soft free kick in the first place, the lino gave it.
"And I thought the penalty was soft as well. If you are going to give them you are going to give five penalties each game.
"It's disappointing but they've scored two and we haven't at the end of the day."
Kyle Finn might have got a penalty for Hereford late in the game.
"I played a little one two with him and I think that was as much of a penalty as theirs was Today it didn't go for us.
"Their keeper had a few shots to save and he did well."
Owen-Evans was then asked about next season.
"I'm contracted.
"When I joined from Scotland I could only sign here on non-contract terms until the transfer window opened in January when I signed an 18-month contract.
"I have done the six months so I have got next year here as well.
"I said to myself when I joined I wanted to get 10 (goals) and I have got 11 so I'm really happy with that and chipped in with, I think, nine assists as well from about 30 games."
Where is your perferred position behind the front man?
"I played there today and it is my preferred position where I think I can affect the game the most.
"I thought I did okay today, I was a bit sloppy in the first half but in the second I created a few chances. I just need them to go in the back of the net and it's a few more assists for me."
What about next season?
"I think there are five of us contracted for next year so we've got a good little spine to build on. I'm not sure about the other boys."
