Relegated Nuneaton Borough welcome title contenders Stockport County to their ground on Saturday.
Over 3,000 Hatters are expected to travel to watch the game.
It's been a very difficult season for Nuneaton whose manager Jimmy Ginnelly only took over in November. In late February Ginnelly also became chairman of the club.
In advance of Saturday's game he has released a statement.
I was honoured to be offered the manager’s position of the Boro’ in late November 2018 & after a great start it soon became very apparent that off the field issues were at a critical stage & the Football Club’s debt were escalating by the day. I now had a difficult decision to make. Walk away from my home town club who I have supported since I was a boy, played for in their youth & reserves sides & always hoped one day would manage which would surely mean letting our great club go out of existence? I simply could not let this happen.
So, on the 28th of February, I became owner and chairman of the club alongside my manger’s role. That’s when the real non-stop hard work started! I will never be more grateful or thankful enough for all the help, generosity, hard work & spirit shown from the Nuneaton people to keep our towns club alive & kicking. It’s been a truly wonderful & humbling time to see so many good people coming together with the same goal to save the Boro.
We still have some very tough times ahead without doubt, however we now have a pathway forward & with additional hard work, honesty & most importantly increasing transparency we now have a future. We will be having a final bucket collection on Saturday and closing the JustGiving page on Monday, any final donations would be greatly received.
Saturday’s game will be a welcome help for our club & you have my word we will try & make this a fantastic occasion for everybody who attends.
We have made sure we have all the relevant safety procedures in place & Stockport’s ticket allocation represents the support they have. We have also made sure you are entertained with a local singing legend in a fans zone outside the ground on arrival & refreshments of course will be provided. We would like to thank Nuneaton Rugby Club for their co-operation and use of the land for this.
Let’s join together to make this a great day that we all enjoy & hopefully this can be the start a long-standing friendship between our clubs whatever the result.'
Update: The game is sold out.
