Southport manager Liam Watson, speaking after Saturday's 1-0 win over Hereford, admitted that conditions were not great for football.
"Conditions weren't great for both sides.
"The pitch has had too much football.
"The wind was howling, it was Baltic, it just wasn't set up for football.
"It was never going to be one for the purists, wasn't going to be a good spectactal.
"However the lads dug in, we got a goal from a set-piece, nice for Matty Platt to score (he's on loan from Blackburn).
"Rode our luck obviously with the fact that they missed a penalty.
"But apart from that they didn't really cause us much trouble in terms of attempts on goal."
