Cardiff City loanee James Waite was brought on at half time to 'try and change the game' - and did just that as he scored the winner in Tuesday night's 2-1 win at York City.
The 19-year-old describes himself as a goalscoring midfielder and said it was great to score on his senior debut.
Waite said: "It was a great feeling on a personal note to get a goal on my debut, but it was good to help the team get three points, and it was a much-needed three points.
"We went with a bit of a change of shape so we had to adapt to that, but the message to me was to go on and try and change the game.
He added: "Thankfully I hoped I helped the team to do that and get the three points.
Waite was introduced to the action at half time, coming on to replace Harvey Smith and scored the winner ten minutes from time.
"I tried to get in and around the box, support the play and try and get my shots as much as I could do.
"Lloyd with a good run down the wing, put the ball in, I remember it coming just past me so I took it on the swivel with my left foot and then managed to find the corner thankfully with my right foot.
"I like to say I'm a bit of a goalscoring midfielder."
Waite said that after Hereford had spoke to him about a possible move, he wanted to push for it as much as possible.
"The club spoke to me shortly before the window was about to close, I've heard about the club and how much of a big club it is," Waite added.
"We played them preseason so I got a little taste of it then, I wanted to push for it as much as I can and get here and I did."
