Commercial Director George Webb feels Hereford looked like a proper football team in their game against Chester yesterday and now have the makings of a good squad.
George Webb is the only remaining director from the original club board when it was formed in 2015, and admitted that the current season hasn't been great.
"I thought we looked like a proper football team," Webb said shortly after the full time whistle on Saturday.
"We passed it, we broke forward with pace, we looked fit and competed all around the pitch. We tackled back and it was brilliant to watch.
"It hasn't been the greatest of seasons and I know people are fed up with hearing about transitional periods but we are. We knew coming into the season it was going to be really difficult."
The board did their homework prior to the league allocations for the 2018/19 season which included going to National League North side Kidderminster Harriers.
When the club found out they'd been placed in the northern division, Webb said his heart sank.
"We went to watch Kidderminster at the end of last season," Webb added.
"We watched the standard and talked to the Kidderminster fans and they said there's no easy game in this league.
"We saw some really physical sides so when we saw we were put in the North my heart sank a little bit and it's proved to be that way. We've come into the season with a squad not as strong as last year, I think everyone will admit that when we lost the likes of Jimmy Oates and Dara (O'Shea).
"They were big losses for us, but the team has now transitioned into a half decent looking side. We've brought some good players in, and the players we've brought in are better than the ones we've released, I think we can all see that.
"We look like we've got the makings of a good squad."
Webb shares the thoughts of many supporters who have been pleased with the improved performances in recent weeks, with Boxing Day's game against Kidderminster the one exception.
The National League North defeats at home to FC United of Manchester and Southport were a low point, with Webb dubbing the side 'dire'.
"I think a performance like that has been coming for a number of weeks now. There's no denying that against FC United and Southport we were dire at home, we were really poor.
"But since then we haven't looked back and it's got gradually better each week, a great result against FC United and even at Bradford (Park Avenue) we deserved something out of the game.
"There were backs to wall against Kidderminster at times, but at times we competed and played football. But they're a full time side, they've been together a lot longer than our boys.
"But you could see the desire today, there's a real desire here and a team spirit which is great to be part of and see again."
Up next for Hereford is a trip to Kidderminster Harriers on Tuesday, which Webb says he's now looking forward to.
"If you'd have asked me a month ago I wouldn't have wanted to go!
"Now I'm relishing it, I'm looking forward to it. We're going to take a great following and I know the boys are already up for it, it'll be great to take something from Kidderminster.
"Chorley, I thought they were the best side I've seen this year. Again a month ago I'd have been dreading it, but bring it on and let's have a go at them!"
