News Round Up

Chorley's 'ambitious' keeper, who's on a season-long loan from League One side Fleetwood Town, is targeting promotion from the National League North. Matty Urwin told the Lancashire Post he hopes his ambition is matched by Chorley, and says the side could 'definitely' be promoted.

Darlington's manager has had to set the record straight about comments he made about his players missing training. Furious after Saturday's 3-1 defeat at Chester, Tommy Wright hinted that a number of his players had not attended regular training sessions, but has since backtracked telling the club's official site it's not a regular occurrence for players to miss training.
He said: "My comment wasn’t suggesting the lads simply do not turn up – no matter where they’re travelling from — it was meant to explain how frustrating it is when the group do not all train together."

Zak Lilly has admitted he must trust AFC Telford United boss Gavin Cowan's decision to convert him from a striker to a centre-half. The 20-year-old is currently on loan at Tamworth as he works his way back from injury. He told the Shropshire Star that he didn't like being a defender as a boy, but must now trust the judgment of people who have had years in the game.

Southport's FA Cup replay against Tranmere Rovers will be televised by BT Sport on Monday, December 17. The Sandgrounders went to Tranmere on Saturday and managed to hold the League Two side to a 1-1 draw.

Ashton United have made a double-swoop today as they look to strengthen their side. 22-year-old defender Liam Goulding arrives on loan from league rivals Altrincham as he looks to continue building up his fitness and sharpness levels having recently spent time at step three Witton Albion.
Also joining the Robins is midfielder Callum Harris who was most recently with Altrincham but only made two appearances for the side.
