This afternoon was the first time the Hereford FC Women had played at Edgar Street and they deservedly defeated Areley Kings Ladies 2-0.
The rules of Womens football are the same as for the mens game except that, at the level Hereford play, rolling substitutes are allowed.
Playing towards the Blackfriars End, Hereford started brightly. But until the home side had a free kick tipped over the bar, the Areley keeper had little to do.
Substitute Roxana Dinescu received a nasty blow to her head from an Areley player and had to be treated.
Both sides continued to create chances. But it was goal-less at half-time.

This Effort Hit The Side Netting |
Hereford started the second half playing towards the Meadow End and after just two minutes took the lead.
After beating several defenders Dinescu crossed to Jess Kenny whose shot sailed over the head of the visiting keeper.
Fifteen minutes later another surging run by Dinescu was ended when she was bundled over. Brown took the free kick which went close to the far post.
More chances for Hereford followed with both Jones and Holman having good efforts saved. Soon after Dinescu was knocked off the ball, Brown took the free kick but Dinescu couldn't quite get her head on the ball.
It took until the 87th minute for Hereford to score their second goal. Dinescu gained the ball in mid-field and run all of thirty yards towards the Areley keeper. Keeping her composure she rounded her and slotted in from twelve yards.
