Reaction From Beadle Following Chorley Defeat

Hereford manager Pete Beadle speaking to BBC Hereford and Worcester following this afternoon's 1-0 defeat at Chorley, with the goal coming right at the death.

"I thought we stayed in the game great," said Beadle.

"We were a little bit toothless going forward, a little bit flat first half.

"Second half we started better and we said on the bench it was going to be one goal that wins it if there is one.

"It surprised a bit where it came from because we thought it would be from a set piece as they were very strong from set pieces.

"But it came from a little lack of concentration out wide and he flicks it between the two players, they will probably say they deserved to win it because they had better chances than us which they did throughout the game.

"But sometimes away from home against a team who have won four on the bounce and you've got to be resolute.

"We did have some very good spells in the game but we didn't make the most of it.

"We didn't really have any chances apart from Lance's chance, Keyon had a shot when he cut inside but we didn't have too many chances outside that really. And that was disappointing from us.

"When you think of the saves that Horsell has had to make they'll say they deserved to win the game because they had so many chances on goal.

"As a team we huffed and puffed and worked very hard to try and stop the way they played and for 92 minutes we did it. We used everybody and Horsell had to make a few saves but we did it so it's disappointing we've lost it the way we did right at the very end.

"But it will be a very good lesson for us to learn this early in the season.

"We know that, at the moment, if this is the best the League has to offer, these are top, they've won five out of five, they've not conceeded a goal yet.

"We know if we get it right we're not going to be a mile off these, we fancy our chances so we've got some work to do.

"We've played a top team today and we've come out second best,we were a little bit toothless in the final third which was disappointing.

"As a team I thought we defended very well first half. Horsell didn't have too much to do first half.

"Then second half when the game got half way and the referee picked up an injury, I think they were starting to get on top a little bit.

"And they were got a bit ragged which is understandable when you've got young players in the group. A couple of times we had two players going for the same ball but that comes with understanding and timing.

"I felt sorry for Harry as he worked tirelessly up there and it was difficult for him.

"When it did fall for us we weren't bring enough to put it away."
