A pitch at the FA's St George's Park has been dedicated to Dick Bate, the former Hereford United coach, who 'helped thousands become better coaches'.
Pitch 10 at the national football centre will now carry the name of the former England Youth coach. It was formally dedicated to Bate during a private ceremony attended by his wife Maggie and sons Nick and Matthew.
Bate joined Hereford United in November 1994 to assist John Layton. He
worked under Graham Turner for two seasons. He left Edgar Street in
May 1997 to work with Howard Wilkinson at the FA. He died in April 2018.
