'The Goal' Need Help From The Meadow End

Work towards producing 'The Goal' continues across the road from Hereford FC's Edgar Street at the Courtyard and the team behind the production need help from the Meadow End.

The aim of 'The Goal' is to recreate the day Ronnie Radford scored that world famous goal for Hereford United against Newcastle United back in 1972 as seen by six ball boys.

Currently they are looking for 'effects' from that day in 1972 and this is where the Meadow End comes in.

Next Saturday the hope is to record the Meadow End in full voice.

The idea is that during the game Matt Healey will put on the scoreboard the songs and this is meant to prompt the Meadow End to sing. A person from the Courtyard will record it all.

'In order to create an authentic atmosphere of the game in the auditorium, we want to use the sounds of the Meadow End, in particular as they sang on that day. The chants & songs that were sung were as follows:

1. The regular Hereford chant ie - Hereford - 3 claps, Hereford, 3 claps etc.
2. Chorus of “You’ll Never Walk Alone”
3. Sung to the tune of “Jesus Christ Superstar” - Supermac, superstar, how many goals have you scored so far? and repeat.
4. “What a load of Rubbish”
5. Easy, Easy, Easy
6. “One Roger Griffiths, there’s only one Roger Griffiths, one Roger Griffiths” to the tune of Guantanamera also One Dudley Tyler,
7. Two-one, Two-one, Two-one, two-one etc to the tune of Amazing Grace
8. "We shall not, we shall not be moved. We shall not, we shall not, we shall not be moved, just like a team that’s gonna win the FA Cup, we shall not be moved”

Supporters are reminded that any holder of a current HFC season ticket can get a discount on tickets for the production of 20% up to the end of April. The Courtyard box office will be open after the game on Saturday for anyone wanting to buy tickets and claim their discount.'

The production will take place 1st-13th October at The Courtyard.
