Hereford FC face Hitchin for the first time tomorrow afternoon, but back in 1994 The Bulls played Hitchin in the FA Cup 1st round. The first match ended 2-2, but in the replay at Top Field Hitchin ran out 4-2 winners.
Here is the footage of the initial game. Hitchin were 2-0 up by half time with a double from Shaun Marshall. Hereford rallied in the 2nd half and scored two quick goals courtesy of Neil Lyne ( The first is pretty amusing, when the goalkeeper and defender collide). Interestingly the much maligned Andy Llewellyn provided the cross for the first goal.
Hereford came unstuck in the replay. Steve White put Hereford ahead, then Hitchin equalised. Gary Pick made it 2-1 but then after the sending off of Richard Wilkins the Bulls collapsed and ended up losing 4-2.
John Layton reacted to the defeat by making wholesale changes, and Hereford defeated Northampton 3-1 four days later in their next league game.
