Former Hereford FC coach Matt Bishop watched yesterday's FA Cup game against Hornchurch. He was given a warm welcome by Peter Beadle, Steve Jenkins and several of the players.
Afterwards he spoke to BN.
"It's been a while since I left here but I'm very impressed with what I've seen.
"The strength and depth of the squad is exceptional.
"I was speaking to Purds and Simmo and a couple of others earlier and I look at that squad and it's quite exciting.
"It's taken a little bit of time to gel but without a doubt this team is going places.
"It's not easy when you bring new faces in and you can't get all the squad together and the team keeps changing.
"Now, hopefully, he's got everyone fit, competition for places, strong squad. Hopefully a great season and another promotion."
Bishop was asked if any player impressed him.
"I like what I'm seeing and Mills stepped up again and scored another goal. I think that 114 in 114 appearances. Pretty exceptional!."
About the game?
"Hornchurch you can see why they've won seven out of seven. They are a good team with some good experience.
"There were times in the game you needed to have a bit of physicality to stamp your authority and we saw that today.
"I'm pleased with what I've seen and I'm sure the fans are.
"Long may it continue."
