John McCombe, pictured, has quit Macclesfield to join Chester.
Now 32, the former Hereford United defender turned down a further contract offer at Moss Road to sign a one year deal with the Blues.
McCombe made 27 appearances for Hereford in the 2007/08 season. He started his career at Huddersfield as a trainee.

He has signed for Alfreton after leaving Bradford Park Avenue.
Sharp moved to Hereford from Telford for a reported fee of £3000 in late December 2012.
