Former Hereford United loanee Peter Gulacsi has been grabbing the headlines lately as goalkeeper at RB Leipzig, the team currently chasing Bayern Munich at the top of the table in the Bundesliga.
Gulacsi made 18 league appearances in 2009 for Graham Turner's League One team, but was unable to stop Hereford from being relegated in bottom place. The Hungarian shot-stopper impressed whilst on loan though and despite being on the losing side more often that not, will be fondly remembered by Hereford fans for being an exciting prospect.
Currently his country's number one, Gulacsi went on to have loan spells at Tranmere and Hull from parent club Liverpool, but never made a senior appearance for the Anfield based club.
After a spell at Red Bull Salzburg, Gulacsi joined Leipzig in 2015 and has made 24 league appearances for the team, dubbed 'The Most Hated Team in Germany'.
Through the backing of energy drink Red Bull, Leipzig have risen from the German fifth division to the Bundesliga in the space of just seven seasons. They led the Bundesliga until recently and went into a top of the table clash with Bayern equal on points last night.
Unfortunately for Gulacsi, it didn't go to plan - Bayern won 3-0 and Gulacsi gave away a penalty.
Playing in front of 75,000 spectators at the Allianz Arena though is a far cry from trips with Hereford to the likes of Northampton, Crewe and Yeovil and those cold spring afternoons at Edgar Street.
