Darlington are hoping to confirm their return to the town that bears their name by the end of the month. Their current groundshare with Bishop Auckland has seen the Heritage Park pitch in such poor state that neither club has played a home match since November, leaving 26 matches to be played on the ground in just 16 weeks.
Cheltenham chairman Paul Baker says the club has no cashflow worries this year despite losing their lucrative Christmas fixture to the weather. Baker says that stronger than expected attendances, and the £200,000 legacy from a supporter, has allowed the club to cover short term deficits.
Torquay have sold teenage goalkeeper Dan Lavercombe to Wigan for an undisclosed fee to ease their cash issues. The 19 year old will stay on loan at Plainmoor for the rest of the season as the Gulls do not have another keeper. Meanwhile new Plainmoor tenants Truro City are having to spend money upgrading their soon to be redeveloped Treyew Road home. They need to extend the grandstand, dugouts, and add fencing to meet grading requirements by March 31st or face being demoted.
