TV Documentary About Hereford FC

There's an exciting opportunity for Hereford fans to be involved in a new project where a TV documentary is to be made about the club. Hayden Atkins is the person behind it and he's told BN what he's done so far and why he would like to interview some fans.

My name is Hayden Atkins, and I'm a 20-year-old Freelance Journalist from Birmingham. I'm also in my final year of a three-year journalism degree at the University of Worcester, which is why I'm in the area.

I'm a massive football fan and have a particular interest in fan ownership and involvement- which began my interest in Hereford FC. I'd followed the journey throughout, from the ending of the old club to the beginning to the new. I understand it was a difficult, turbulent time for all supporters, but as a Birmingham City FC fan, I can fully sympathise with all fans involved with difficult times in a football club.

I was absolutely delighted when Hereford FC came into fruition. Living in Worcester, I know that it was big news, and I knew I wanted to get involved- even if it was to go and watch games and support the team. I’d visited Edgar Street three times before, so I knew about the local area and the stadium.

After getting in contact with Jon Hale and Chris Ammonds, I went down to the club to have a chat to see if we could sort something out, and I was delighted to find out that they supported my idea.

For my third year project, I wanted to do something about a club that I had a genuine interest in and that I wanted to see do well and climb the leagues. I’ve been to four games already this season to film and to watch, and I’ve also been doing interviews with players, the management and the owners/directors.

But I need to talk to the most important group of people involved: the fans. I want to talk to the supporters to see how they feel about the club, how it felt when the club came back, and their hopes for the future. They’re the most important part of any football club, and it’s you guys that I want to speak to most.

I’ll be at the Bromyard game, and I want to speak to the fans. I’ll be there with full a full camera set, and I’ll be looking to do interviews with those who want to talk. You’ll be helping me, but you’ll be helping the club too. They will be using this programme when I finish it at the end of the year, and I want it to be as good as can be. I’ll be buzzing around, so I’d love it if you came and chatted to me about your experiences at the club.
