Jed McCrory is being linked with a buy-out at Northampton Town.
With the Kelvin Thomas deal faltering, chairman David Cardoza told supporters he was only doing what was in the best interests of the club with BBC Northamptonshire reporting that McCrory was now in talks.
The former Swindon Town and Banbury owner was labelled a "liar" by a judge as his evidence was dismissed in a court case over the ownership of Swindon last January. He had talks with David Keyte over the sale of Hereford United, including a meeting with Herefordshire Council, and introduced Tommy Agombar to Keyte.
Today, the club's staff called for a resolution 'within hours' with a statement published on the club's website at 11am, adding that they are keeping their options open.
The club's Supporters Trust has opened a hardship fund for staff with a £10,000 kitty, while another supporters group laid on a meal for the staff yesterday.
