The proposed takeover at Northampton Town is in doubt with bidder Kelvin Thomas releasing a statement questioning whether the club's current owners really want to sell.
With around 200 non-playing staff now having gone three weeks without pay there are concerns at Sixfields that they may have to play games behind closed doors with essential staff said to be 'nearing breaking point'. Thomas' statement noted that they were 'only just' still in negotiations, adding:
"Unfortunately it has taken too much time for David and Tony Cardoza to complete the share purchase agreement and we are now stuck wondering if they really want to complete the deal as agreed,"
Chairman David Cardoza and his father have been deeply implicated in the land deals and movements of the Council money loaned to the club, with Cardoza junior telling the press they were prepared to write off millions in personal loans to the club to see a deal go through.
The club has just 11 days left before a Council petition to appoint an Administrator is heard at the High Court.
Meanwhile, Kidderminster chairman Rod Brown says the club will remain full time even if it is relegated this season. Brown has told supporters the playing budget will be further reduced next season whatever league they are playing in.
Brown plans to concentrate on youth development to bring cheaper footballers to the first team and generate income to sustain the club.
