Alvechurch manager Ian Long feels the possibility of a trip to Wembley will ensure his players perform to their abilities at Bridgenorth on Saturday in their FA Vase game.
“We are potentially six or seven games from walking out at Wembley, so
that’s a massive incentive. Hopefully that thought will focus the
players’ minds to make sure they perform to their abilities. If we do
that, I’m confident we can go through,” Long told the Redditch Standard.
Alvechurch defeated Westfields last Tuesday, however Bridgnorth who lie fourth in the West Midlands Premier, could be a difficult game.
"Bridgnorth will make it a tough game, no doubt about that. I’ve played
and managed against them before and the pitch has a massive slope. It
will definitely be a leveller,” said Long.
Just like Hereford's manager Peter Beadle, Long would like a day at Wembley but promotion is top of the agenda. Currently Alvechurch have three games in hand over Hereford but have six less points.
"We want to keep the pressure on Hereford at the top."
