Nine Years To The Day

Shepshed Dynamo striker Levi Porter is set to return to Edgar Street on Saturday, nine years to the day that he last appeared at the ground.

Back in 2006, the then England youth international was a starter for Leicester City as they won 3-1 at Edgar Street in a League Cup match. Rob Purdie was also playing, in the Bulls starting XI against his former side, netting the Bulls goal from the penalty spot to level before two further Foxes goals and a red card for each side.

Porter, 5ft 3in but 'jet heeled', was fouled in the box for the final goal of the game, felled by Trent McClenahan in what was deemed a red card offence. Within a year Porter's Leicester career was all but over after a serious knee injury, spending a year out of the game before stints with two Conference North sides.

Now 28, Porter netted eight times in 22 games last season including both goals as they won 2-1 at Westfields in March.

Shepshed have added two new players to their squad for tomorrow's game. Goalkeeper Ryan Price arrives with both Shepshed's keepers picking up injuries on Tuesday night, while forward Liam Reid joins from Grantham Town having previously played for manager John Folwell at Quorn.

Meanwhile, Daniel Lloyd-Weston is reported to have picked up a shoulder injury after he played in Worcester's 2-1 loss to Alfreton on Tuesday night. Lloyd-Weston played due to first choice Nathan Vaughan's shift patterns at work, with Worcester now looking for a new keeper as cover.
