Sam Clucas Scores For Hereford In Their 5-2 Win Over Tamworth In April 2013 - Pic From Andy Compton |
Hull City manager Steve Bruce has said that he is pleased with the progress of former Hereford United winger Sam Clucas.
Clucas has started all of Hull's league games this season to date.
"You could say he's arguably been our best player.
"Through his upbringing and where he's been, he's a tough lad.
"It's a different debate but when I look at the under-21s and the league they play in, they seem to still be playing boys football.
"When you've got someone who's been at Mansfield and Chesterfield, no disrespect to them, he's grown up because he's had to.
"If you're not tough enough down there, then you're just blown away.
"It goes to prove that there's lads in the lower divisions who can make the step up. It's just a case of finding them. Certainly Sam has been one of them.
"The other night he covered 13.5km, which is huge. He did more work than anyone else but he's also good on the ball. He never gives it away, he's composed and he's done great.
"It's been a tough upbringing for him but that's great to see someone like him coming through. He's grasped his chance."
