At a meeting last night, Newport fans were told they would have to raise between £300,000 and £500,000 to cover liabilities and have working capital to take over their club. While the full facts and figures were reported to be up to two weeks away, they were told that the club had lost £2million since being reformed in 1989 and spent more on wages last season than ten of their League Two rivals that had larger turnovers - leading Supporters Direct to call the current model unsustainable.

The Herefordshire FA have received a grant of £625,000 to invest in local football clubs over the next four years. Chief Jim Lambert says their main priority is to maintain the 11v11 game, and that they will invest in womens and disability football as well as walking football for the over 50's. They also aim to increase the number of 3G pitches in the County from the current one to three.
