This from Hereford FC:
Hereford FC’s Board of Directors have announced they have taken the difficult decision to move the former Vice-Presidents Club – which has been rebranded the Executive Club – to a new location.
The Hereford FC Executive Club will therefore, for this season at least, be re-housed in the Starlite Rooms.
Members – whose season tickets cover all home matches – will continue to enjoy a reserved seat over the halfway line, a private bar, new televisions and a designated route from the Executive Club to their seat.
This decision has been taken because, during the extensive works programme going on at Edgar Street, the old VP Club lounge has been found to have a number of serious and dangerous issues. These include:
- Asbestos risk identified behind the bar
- Toilets broken through misuse/vandalism
- Drains in need of immediate work
- Flooring in need of replacement following water leaks
- Damaged toughened glass replacement
- Electrical replacement/renewal following inspection
- Other building standards requirements throughout the room
The work required to make the VP Club usable has been estimated at between £20,000 and £30,000; a level of cost the Directors’ could not justify when there are far more pressing matters around the ground that affect the application for a Health & Safety Certificate.
The Board of Directors has decided to move the Executive Club into the Starlite Rooms for this coming season and members will then be consulted as to its long-term future location.
Speaking about this difficult decision, Hereford FC Chairman, Jon Hale, said:
‘Personally I am enormously fond of the old VP Club and therefore this has been a decision I have found very difficult. Other Board members have also found the decision hard too.
‘However, the extent and cost of the work that would need doing – and the timescales we are working to – means that this is a decision we have had to take.
‘Having said that, I am pleased to report that we have already almost tripled the number of Executive Club season ticket sales compared to the 2013-14 season for the VP Club, and are anticipating having around 100 members. Therefore the extra space provided by the new room will actually be necessary in order to allow a comfortable experience for all.
‘The modern feel of the soon to be refurbished suite will also make it a much brighter, presentable room for members and their guests. We are very much looking forward to giving members the opportunity to sample the new Executive Club at the FC United of Manchester game on 11th July.
“In the coming months we are going to carry out a viability study to decide if the Executive Club should return to the old lounge or stay in the Starlite Room – and members feedback in that study will be invaluable.’
Membership of the Executive Club entitles you to entry to all Hereford FC games at Edgar Street, including pre-season friendlies, cup matches and league games.
Executive Club Season Tickets are now priced at £250 and can be bought in the normal manner from the club office.
